Woodlands Panton Street restaurant in London belongs to a popular chain in India. Cool pink décor, attentive service and most clients appear familiar with India and its provincial cuisines. Good value are the three thalis, each a series of dishes especially suitable for newcomers to Indian vegetrarian cooking: lentil donuts, curries, rice dishes, breads, yogurt cheese crushed almonds or semolina desserts are typical. Excellent among the a la carte dishes are paper masala dosa (paper-thin pancakes with spiced potatoes and nuts), coconut rict with raita (yogurt with salad) and chapattis with korma (mixed vegetable curry). Unless you cannot imagine life without alcohol the best drink here is a lassi (buttermilk, like liquid yogurt), which comes salted, sweet or plain)
